-How to do a Self Exam Getting familiar with your breasts is one of the best things you can do. This way you will notice when something feels off. Early detection saves lives.
–Risk Assessment Calculator: Free tool. Your personal and family health history to estimate your chance of developing breast cancer. Mine was high.
-Hope4Cancer I didn’t go here, but it was something I looked into incase I needed more treatment options. They are an alternative treatment centre in mexico and they share some great information. You can also find them on instagram @hope4cancermexico
–Port Moody Health Integrative Cancer Centre: This is an integrative health clinic just outside of Vancouver, where I had some treatments done (I live about a 4-hour drive away). Virtual appointments with their integrative oncologist are an option. You can also look up integrative oncologists near you if you want to add someone to your health team. An Integrative Oncologist will help you with the natural side of things. They will also work with you to help support your body when you are going through aggressive treatments. They aren’t just about 100% natural. They can also support you with your conventional care, which I think is extremely important. You can’t heal in the same environment you got sick in; things need to change to reduce your risk of recurrence. If you have a Naturopathic Doctor under your insurance plan, use it! If the treatments and therapies aren’t within your budget, the diet and lifestyle recommendations can still be LIFE CHANGING.
-Color Genetic Testing: This test is specific to cancer genes. Depending on your age, your medical oncologist or surgeon can get this for you under health care, but you might have to wait. You can also order it yourself if you’re curious, which I do recommend, especially if you have a family history of breast cancer. If you think knowing you have a cancer gene is scary, I can assure you that having cancer is scarier. Knowledge is power. Genetics loads the gun when it comes to your health, but you are the one who pulls the trigger. I believe genetic testing can be a great way to encourage you to take control of your health.
-Chat GPT: I know this can feel like you are Dr. Googling, but I found it very helpful when I had questions about my biopsy and pathology reports. Everything it told me was confirmed with all of my doctors. Always double check with your team.
-@clairesdetox on Instagram. I really enjoyed watching her journey. She is doing everything 100% natural and shares everything she does.
Facebook Group: Heal Breast Cancer Naturally. This page is great because it has an amazing group of women sharing their stories. They share what worked and what didn’t. Not everyone went the natural route; some still promote conventional, which I think is important. It is a great place to ask questions and learn more about the different types of breast cancers and what treatment options are out there.
